Photography is the only honest work Michael Shindler has ever done. A darkroom enthusiast since the ’80s (when it was cool), he has worked as a photojournalist, commercial photographer, photographic educator, and darkroom evangelist. He is pretty sure he can photosensitize your skin and print that image of the virgin of Guadalupe directly on your back – but you may need to sign a waiver first. Having spent ten years spreading the good news of photography at the RayKo Photo Center in San Francisco, he has recently partnered with a friend to open Photobooth, a walk-in Tintype and Polaroid portrait studio, gallery space and retail store in San Francisco’s Mission district.
In a fortunate series of events, I’ve updated my website and now able to interact better. This news section is where I’ll post about collaborations or new works. Thanks everyone, and I look forward to capturing your soul. Relax, it’s just Tintype.
